What is Purchasing Power Parity (PPP)?
What is PPP?
Purchasing Power Parity (PPP) is an economic indicator that allows you to compare the purchasing power of different currencies by eliminating differences in price levels between countries. Instead of using the nominal exchange rate, PPP adjusts prices to reflect the real cost of living and purchasing capacity in each country. This allows for more meaningful comparisons of living standards between different economies.
Data Source
The PPP data used in this converter comes from the World Bank. Specifically, we use the indicator "PPP conversion factor, GDP (LCU per international $)" (code: PA.NUS.PPP), which measures how much local currency is needed to buy the same amount of goods and services that can be purchased with one international dollar.
